Art study
Welcome to my art studies portfolio website. On here you'll find my progress in the *fine* arts of drawing and even some photography.

Introduction
I've always been the creative type. For as long as my memory dates back I can remember I was either drawing or creating something. I never bought lego's to keep them as they were, I built them once and after that I let my imagination loose. I started drawing where everyone most likely started, tracing other drawings and a little later copying instead. But in that manner I didn't necessarily have "talent". Only in my more recent year did I actually start drawing (kinda) consistently. some periods more than others but I never got sick of it. It's just something where nothing is impossible, as long as you can imagine it.
A few years ago I actually started trying to learn certain techniques like proportions and anatomy. Eventhough I have not gotten that far I see my progress in the years and the most important part is that it stays fun. I also bought an Ipad for digital drawing this year. I have tried digital drawing before but with a pc connected pad without screen, which is just not the same. It has been a very good investment so far. That's why it kinda sucks it already broke down, but yeah that's lady luck. It does mean that I didn't have the opportunity to draw the whole semester on the Ipad, but I will do so again soon.
This part of my portfolio is to show the progress of this semester specifically and I even threw in a whole different creative subject: photography.
School
During the school project I took a big part in designing the logo, but I also designed some of the posters we had. To make this happen, I challenged myself to hand-draw some of the images that would be used. With this I mostly mean the logo itself, but I also drew some icons for the poster. I learnt a lot making the drawings for the project. I can definitely use some of the things I have learnt in future projects.
Logo creation
The process of designing the logo was a long one. We, of course, started with sketches and slowly moved up in detail. I even went as far as making an animation of our logo, which took a good few hours to make. I also made some variations on the logo for different uses and a mockup of a sticker.

Poster art
For our concept poster we had the idea to make some sort of 3d sculpture or poster. To visualise the idea I created a sketch of what such a 3d sculpture could look like.

Personal
I love to draw in my free time. Designing stuff, or just a random idea that pops in my head. For me it is a way of expressing my thoughts and creativity, especially since my inspiration often is temporary. I get an idea and lose it again in the blink of an eye. That's why I love to visualise ideas I get. It keeps them safe from memory.
Paper drawings
Drawing on paper is something anybody can do anywhere, as long as you have something like a pen or pencil and a piece of paper you can create amazing drawings. I have to say though that a drawing book is easier. But when I have the time and space to sit down and sketch, I gladly make use of that.

Digital drawings
At the start of the school year I invested in something to progress my drawing skills: I got an Ipad for digital art. Drawing on paper really has its limits, but with digital art you can really create anything you can think of. I made quite a lot of art with it as seen below. I also created two groups of drawings that followed the same theme. Sadly my Ipad succumbed halfway through the semester so I couldn't use it to its full potetntial, but it definitely served its purpose.
Cats
The first theme is cats. I designed four cats within the same theme with each their own color and distortion of some sort. The idea bloomed from the initial tattoo design I had made, which I then expanded on.
Eyes
The second theme I created is eyes. Ever since I started drawing again a few years ago, my obsession with eyes has grown larger and larger. I really like the almost creepy vibes the eyes give off. I also wanted to practise with different brushes, so every eye I have drawn uses a different kind of brush. Depending on the brush, the style of the drawing also changed. It was a really fun exercise to do and to learn from.
Photography
A thing I definitely would consider art is photography. It's something I only recently started doing, but it's something I would really love to improve in. I also decided to combine it with another hobby of mine: cars. I had the perfect opportunity to combine the two, because I went to two car meets with a lot of cars that are worth taking photos of.
I split the pictures up in different themes, each either a different aspect of the car or a different type of photo. I selected my favorite photos from a big pool of photos(almost 1500). I still have a lot to learn regarding photography and I definitely plan on taking a whole lot more photos in the future, but this experience was already a very informative one. The next step I also want to learn. Namely: photo editing. But that's a story for another time.
General photos
Unlike the next categories, this one doesnt have a main theme. I just chose the pictures I liked the best that didn't fit the other categories. It would be a shame to not put these photos on here just because they didn't fit in the categories I made.
Logo close-ups
So, I'm really obsessed with taking photos like these. Just capturing the essence of a shape up close, seeing every detail of it. From the dirt stuck to it, to the smallest scratches on the paint. It's the imperfections that make these photos so perfect. It shows that nothing is flawless, eventhough it would seem so with the naked eye. All of my photos here have the logo in the center, because that's where it's supposed to be: the center of attention.
Wheel shots
The wheel of a car is one of its most notable features, which is why is always like taking photos of them. They can be a very simple color like black, while at other times it could be the most flamboyant pink. They are what give a car personality. I would probably say that it's my favorite part of the car. I really tried getting nice angles for the pictures, but they vary in quality.
Side angles
The main focus with these pictures was making photos of the sides of a car on an angle. This creates an expressive look. I also tried to take the pictures from below to give the photos more life. For instance by showing the ground, but out of focus to not bring too much attetion to it.
This definitely is one of my favorite angles to take pictures from. Though some could definitely be improved.
Collages
The main focus with these pictures was getting a lot of cars in one picture together, while also having some sort of composition within them. They are however, really situational, so it's pretty hard to get these kinds of pictures very often. In this case I was at an event where there was a literal line-up of almost a hundred cars, which made it a whole lot easier to get these photos.
For me these pictures somehow feel really calming, almost like you're looking at a sea, but then it's a sea of cars.
